Screw The Average Featured on the 2 Frugal Dudes Podcast!
Our first podcast appearance was on Sean and Kevin’s 2 Frugal Dudes Podcast. They made the experience super enjoyable and fun, and we had a great time talking about financially independent, retire early (FI/RE), travel, house sitting, miles and points, and much more!

Last April we were fortunate enough to have a wonderful house sit in Colorado. The homeowners are now friends (hi Kel and Kayla!) and we still miss Bailey and Cupid’s antics!
While house sitting for Kel and Kayla and caring for Cupid (the most dog like cat we’ve ever met) and Bailey (who expresses herself very loudly and comically), we took an afternoon to go to a financially independent, retire early (FIRE) Colorado Meetup at the Mr. Money Mustache Headquarters. We were immediately welcomed in and had a bunch of interesting and stimulating conversations. To top it off, we were graciously invited the following day to dinner with several fellow FIRE community members (thank you Michael and Ellen for hosting such a delicious dinner!).
One of the people we met at dinner was Sean, co-host of the 2 Frugal Dudes Podcast. First, if you haven’t heard their podcast yet, get on over to wherever you download your podcasts and start listening. 2 Frugal Dudes talks about personal finance in layman’s terms. And, if you haven’t guessed it yet, we do have a favorite episode that we (not so humbly) recommend you listen to!
We had such a great time getting to know Sean and talking about all of his endeavors that we both agreed to continue our conversation on the 2 Frugal Dudes Podcast. Since April, we’d exchanged a few emails, but unfortunately our schedules for recording never quite seemed to line up… until late September.
So after scheduling delays (we take the majority of blame there) and technical issues (recording in a hotel room from FinCon is bound to cause a few hiccups), we finally made it on a call with Sean and Kevin! It was our first time meeting and talking with Kevin, but conversation with him was just as fluid as it was with Sean.
Being our first appearance on a podcast, we were a bit nervous and didn’t know what to expect. However, Sean and Kevin welcomed us aboard and made the entire process simple and fun. Our conversation ranged from traveling abroad continually for a year for $16,000 total, house sitting, traveling with miles and points, tips and tricks, and more!
